Dancing queens: Natalie Portman and SJP enjoy a night at the ballet. The celebs turned out for the New York City Ballet last night, but there wasn't a tutu in sight on the red carpet as sartorial stalwarts Natalie Portman and Sarah Jessica Parker attended the event in typically gorgeous but contrasting frocks. Natalie chose her failsafe designer Lanvin, and floated down the red carpet in a sheer chiffon asymmetric scarlet dress with nude underlay. A red frock on the red carpet can be a big no-no, but Natalie looked amazing in this puffed-up, frothy delight. Teamed with simple nude strappy sandals we loved her look, but if we were to split style hairs we think a lighter clutch bag might have worked better – the slightly clunky black arm candy she was carrying was a little too heavy for such a beautiful ballerina look. Sarah Jessica Parker also didn't disappoint in a blush embellished lace dress with equally bling shoes. These nude tones work so well for SJP, and we loved the simple make-up and ballerina bun. We weren't totally convinced by the bottle green silk jacket, but following recent weight-loss rumours, maybe it was a style tactic to cover up skinny arms. Either way, we thought her look rocked.
